Residents still struggling with the availability of affordable testing for COVID-19 now have another affordable option.
Beginning today, the federal government will send up to four free COVID-19 tests to any household that makes an online request.
A total of 500 million at-home COVID tests will be distributed nationwide by mail through the website COVIDtests.gov.
The only information requested for a free test is a name and street address. Financial and health insurance information is not required.
Tests are likely to ship between seven and 12 days after making the request. All tests will be FDA authorized and have instructions for use.
