Freeport Volleyball advances to state championship

PIAA Volleyball Playoffs:
–Freeport defeated Phillipsburg-Osceola 3-2 to reach the Class 2A state championship this weekend. Freeport won a five-set thriller, falling in the first game 12-25 before rebounding with back-to-back wins of 25-20 and 25-18. Phillipsburg-Osceola won the fourth game 15-25 before Freeport iced their second title berth 15-9 in the deciding game. The Yellow Jackets will meet York Catholic in the title game Saturday at 1pm at Cumberland Valley high school. The Freeport game will be followed by the North Catholic-Pope John Paul II Class 3A final at 3:30pm.
