Nearly 1,600 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Pennsylvania Friday.
There are now over 38,000 cases in the Commonwealth, and nearly 1,500 have died because of the virus.
In Butler County, the state is reporting four new cases, bringing the county’s total to 168.
Yesterday, the state lowered the death toll by over 200.
PA Department of Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine explains the difficulty of presenting probable cases with confirmed data.
“The cases that were previously reported as probable, but upon further review has determined that we needed more information before we could attribute them as a death related to COVID-19,” Levine said. “This does not impact our confirmed case count, it impacts our probably case county.”
As of Friday afternoon, Butler Memorial Hospital says they’re treating 12 patients for COVID-19, however none of those patients are in the ICU.
There have been over 147,000 negative tests in the state.
