A unique and prolific local builder recently passed away.
Ronald C. Heist died unexpectedly in his sleep last Tuesday at the age of 72. He spent over 50 years constructing an 80 room structure in his parents’ back yard using scavenged materials but no nails or mortar.
Heist was known by many as Moleman after picking up the nickname during appearances on the TV show American Pickers. A documentary titled Mole Man was also filmed about Heist and his creations in 2017.
Friends will be received Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Thompson – Miller Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following.
