New numbers out this week show that Pennsylvania saw the most revenue ever from gambling.
Over the last fiscal year, the revenue totaled $3.9 billion, which was up $600 million more than last year.
PA Gaming Board spokesman Doug Harbach says even though casinos closed during the pandemic, online and sports gambling help boost revenues.
“We are very fortunate in Pennsylvania that the legislature approved new forms of gambling prior to the pandemic, so when that hit and the casinos had to close for a number of months, we had these new initiatives ready,” Harbach said.
In sports gambling alone, the past fiscal year saw more than $5.5 billion wagered—up nearly $3 billion from the year prior.
