The Pennsylvania Game Commission will not move forward with a proposal that would have banned the use of urine-based deer attractants.
At a recent meeting, the Board of Commissioners split a 4 to 4 vote on moving the measure to final adoption so it failed to advance.
Some commissioners in favor of the ban because there is some evidence that commercially produced urine-based deer attractants could contain potentially infectious Chronic Wasting Disease particles but the actual risk of spreading CWD with attractants is not known.
While the measure failed to move forward at this time, it could be brought up again in the future. The use or possession of urine-based deer attractants does remain prohibited in CWD Management Areas.
