The Pennsylvania Game Commission is considering changes to a program that helps farmers address crop damage issues through the hunting of antlerless deer.
Four changes to the Agricultural Deer Control Permit Program were given preliminary approval at the Commission’s meeting last week.
The first change would eliminate the requirement of owners to supply a deed or lease agreement. Second, the rule limiting hunters to four ag tag permits would also be eliminated. Third, the number of days that ag tags could be used would be more than doubled. Finally, during overlaps with established hunting seasons, only those sporting arms would be permitted.
A final vote on adopting these changes will take place in April.
