State Game officials are taking steps to inform the public about a fatal brain ailment that continues to affect deer and elk in Pennsylvania.
The Game Commission is teaming up with the National Deer Association and the Wildlife Futures Program to offer a series of virtual meetings focusing on Chronic Wasting Disease.
Six different meetings on Zoom will each focus on a different Game Commission region with the first dealing with the Southwest Region scheduled for Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. A meeting dealing with CWD in the Northwest region of the state is planned for May 13th.
Each meeting will feature a presentation followed by a question and answer session. For links to the meetings or more information, visit the Game Commission’s website.
Chronic Wasting Disease doesn’t affect humans, though the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises people not eat meat from those infected animals.
