Those enjoying the outdoors this time of year are reminded to not disturb any young wildlife that may seem to be abandoned.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission says that while sometimes young animals look like they are alone, most of the time the parents are watching them from nearby.
Trying to interfere with the wildlife or remove them from where they are found can be harmful to people as well as the animals. It is also illegal to possess wild animals and violations can lead to large fines.
If you do find wildlife that appears to be abandoned, you can contact the Pennsylvania Association of Wildlife Rehabilitators or the Game Commission. The Game Commission is holding an online webinar this Tuesday about a recently completed fawn survival study. Participation is limited. Those interested are asked to register online.
