It was the first time in 50 years that hunters took to the woods on a Saturday to begin firearms deer season.
So did the state see more activity with the weekend start date? Well, it may take a little more time to tell.
“Those hunters who were successful have ten days to lawfully report their harvest,” PA Game Commission spokesman Travis Lau said.
“So even those hunters who did see immediate success are still within their lawful window to report their harvest, and some likely haven’t reported,” Lau said. “We’ll learn more as we go along.”
That’s PA Game Commission spokesman Travis Lau.
He says biologists across the state will head to deer processors to build a better estimate on the number of deer harvested during the season.
Firearms season ends December 14th.
