The driver of a garbage truck that crashed into a building this morning in Adams Township has died.
The crash happened around 4:30 a.m. and involved two garbage trucks—one from Waste Management and the other from Vogel. The trucks collided in the 400 block of Mars-Valencia Road. It’s unclear what caused the crash, but as a result the Waste Management truck plowed into a nearby building.
The driver of the truck was entrapped when crews arrived.
He was taken to an area hospital; however the Butler County Coroner confirmed to our newsroom that the driver died in the crash. The identity of the victim is not known at this point.
The driver of the Vogel truck did not have any serious injuries.
The damage to the building was significant, although those on the scene said it was structurally stable.
A portion of Mars-Valencia Road was shut down for hours in between Route 228 and Babcock Boulevard as police investigated and crews cleared the scene.
