Gary L. McCall, age 69, died of cerebral palsy at Sunnyview Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at 6:25 p.m. Gary lived the majority of his life in West Sunbury on the family farm.
Gary was born July 23, 1952, in Butler. He was the son of the late Francis F. “Buck” McCall and the late Donna I. Dillaman McCall. Gary was especially fond of animals. His responsibility on the farm was taking care of the chickens and gathering the eggs. He loved going with Buck to various farms to pick up livestock to haul to New Wilmington. He had a wonderful memory and could be counted on to remember all birthdays and anniversaries. Gary also enjoyed camping with his family. When Gary was moved to Sunnyview, he became a social butterfly who attended every activity and church service he could. Gary could be found on any of the floors at Sunnyview visiting his “girls,” other residents or cleaning the handrails. The staff at Sunnyview grew to love Gary and treated him as family. Gary loved attending Butler Community Alliance Church and was an energetic worshipper. Gary was a life member of the West Sunbury VFD. He was a special gift from God, and he touched more lives than can be imagined with his unconditional love, contagious smile and eagerness to lend a helping hand.
Gary is survived by 4 brothers, 1 sister, and 1 sister-in-law: Paul (Dorothy) McCall of Butler, Linda (David) Jordan of Pleasantville, Kathy McCall of Elizabethtown, PA, Walter (Sally) McCall of Butler, Timothy (Shirley) McCall of West Sunbury and Frank (Dreama) McCall of West Sunbury. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and one maternal aunt.
