Gas prices continue to edge down in the new year both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, decreased by a penny to reach $3.43 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole decreased by two cents over the same period of time to settle at $3.41. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in New Castle at $3.15, while the most expensive is in Kittanning at $3.65.
The average national gas price dropped by two cents over the past week to reach $3.10. This is 14 cents less than a month ago and 11 cents less than one year ago. The price of oil has remained steady even though tensions with Iranian warships in the Red Sea continue to raise fears of supply disruptions.
