Gas prices continue to drop both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, dropped by a nickel to reach $3.71 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole dropped by two cents over the same period of time to settle at $3.67. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in DuBois at $3.51, while the most expensive is in Kittanning at $3.76.
The average national gas price increased by three cents over the past week to reach $3.57 which is still four cents less per gallon than a month ago and $1.04 less than one year ago.
Demand for gas surged over the Memorial Day holiday weekend and the cost of oil increased as well this week due to market optimism about energy demand.
