Gas prices dropped once again both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, dropped by 17 cents over the past week to settle at $4.55 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole dropped by 15 cents during that same time to arrive at $4.59. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Brookville at $4.47, while the most expensive is $4.71 in Beaver.
The average national gas price decreased by 17 cents over the past week to reach $4.35 which is 63 cents less than a month ago. According to AAA, the newest decline at the pump was caused by a combination of lower demand for gas as well as a drop in the price of crude oil.
