Gas prices continue to drop both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, dropped by three cents to reach $3.68 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole dropped by a penny over the same period of time to settle at $3.66. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in DuBois at $3.45, while the most expensive is in Beaver at $3.75.
The average national gas price dropped by two cents over the past week to reach $3.55 which is a penny less per gallon than a month ago and $1.29 less than one year ago.
Even though many motorists took to the road over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, demand actually decreased this week. The price of oil dropped as well but that is not expected to last much longer as Saudi Arabia recently announced major cuts in production next month.
