Gas prices in western Pennsylvania have fallen even lower both regionally and locally over the last week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve in Butler, as of Monday, is $2.14 per gallon which is five cents cheaper compared to last week.
Prices dropped by four cents across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week, also averaging $2.14 per gallon. The cheapest gas in the area can be found in New Castle at $1.80 per gallon, while the most expensive is $2.26 in Mercer.
The average national gas price declined for the seventh consecutive week to $1.86. AAA expects prices to continue to drop as the last time the U.S. saw this level of demand, it was the spring of 1968. Historic global crude production cuts have been announced by OPEC but that cut has not had an immediate impact on prices at the pump.
