Gas prices have once again jumped both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, jumped by 10 cents over the past week to reach $3.69 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole increased by 12 cents during that same time to reach $3.74. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in New Castle at $3.56, while the most expensive is $3.77 in Mercer.
The average national gas price rose by four cents over the past week to reach $3.53 which is nearly a dollar more than a year ago, even as gasoline demand has decreased. According to AAA, the price of crude oil remains high due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine and sanctions restricting the global oil supply.
