Gas prices continue to drop both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of yesterday, decreased by 11 cents to reach $4.59 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole also dropped by eight cents to reach $4.52. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Sharon at $4.18, while the most expensive is in Oil City at $4.78.
The average national gas price dropped by 16 cents over the past week to $4.16 which is 38 cents less than a month ago but still $1.04 more compared to last year. Although gasoline demand decreased last week, the price of oil rose by around $2 to $96 a barrel. Uncertainty lingers over when the Strait of Hormuz will fully reopen and resume traffic.
