Gas prices declined slightly both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, dropped by four cents over the past week to settle at $4.96 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole also dropped by a nickel during that same time to arrive at $4.93. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Altoona at $4.86, while the most expensive is $5.03 in Beaver.
The average national gas price decreased by nine cents over the past week to reach $4.80 which is still $1.67 more than a year ago. According to AAA, the small decline at the pump was caused by lower demand over the past few weeks but the price of crude oil inched up.
