Gas prices continue to drop both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of yesterday, decreased by nine cents to reach $4.70 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole also dropped by nine cents to reach $4.60. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Sharon at $4.31, while the most expensive is in Oil City at $4.90.
The average national gas price dropped by 17 cents over the past week to $4.32 which is seven cents less than a month ago but $1.18 more compared to last year. Although gasoline demand increased last week, the price of oil fell by around $10 to $88 a barrel. Oil prices could rise again quickly if peace talks with Iran fall apart.
