Gas prices have dropped slightly both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, decreased by four cents to reach $3.91 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole dropped by two cents over the same period of time to settle at $3.90. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Bradford at $3.76, while the most expensive is in Mercer and Oil City at $4.00.
The average national gas price dropped by 11 cents over the past week to reach $3.70. This is 12 cents less than a month ago and 21 cents lower than one year ago. Demand for gas dropped significantly, and the price of oil also decreased due to market concerns about interest rate increases leading to a possible recession.
