Gas prices are continuing to drop both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, decreased by four cents to reach $3.83 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole also dropped by four cents over the same period of time to settle at $3.77. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in New Castle at $3.51, while the most expensive is in Mercer at $3.87.
The average national gas price dropped by a nickel over the past week to reach $3.49. This is 33 cents less than a month ago and 27 cents less than one year ago. Demand for gas decreased last week and the price of oil increased slightly due to concerns that the Israel-Hamas War could escalate.
