Gas prices are continuing to drop both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, decreased by a nickel to reach $3.54 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole decreased by seven cents over the same period of time to settle at $3.53. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in New Castle at $3.33, while the most expensive is in Kittanning at $3.69.
The average national gas price dropped by nine cents over the past week to reach $3.15. This is 22 cents less than a month ago and 12 cents less than one year ago. Although demand for gas increased slightly last week, the price of oil decreased slightly due to market concerns about increasing supply through the rest of this year.
