Gas prices in western Pennsylvania continue to drop both regionally and locally over the last week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve in Butler, as of Monday, is $2.76 per gallon which is two cents cheaper compared to last week.
Prices also dropped by two cents across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week, averaging $2.81 per gallon. The cheapest gas in the area can be found in New Castle at $2.63 per gallon, while the most expensive is $2.94 in Meadville.
The average national gas price dropped by a penny to $2.54, which is five cents cheaper than last month but nearly 20 cents more expensive than this date last year. Even with a record setting number of Americans preparing for holiday travel this year, increased demand is not expected to result in elevated gas prices through the new year.
