Gas prices are continuing to drop both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, decreased by two cents to reach $3.81 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole dropped by three cents over the same period of time to settle at $3.74. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in New Castle at $3.44, while the most expensive is in Mercer at $3.88.
The average national gas price dropped by eight cents over the past week to reach $3.41. This is 33 cents less than a month ago and 39 cents less than one year ago. Demand for gas decreased slightly last week along with the price of oil due to the Federal Reserve holding off on another interest rate increase resulting in a stronger dollar.
