Gas prices have decreased slightly both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole during the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, dropped by a penny to hit $3.75 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole edged down by two cents over the same period of time to settle at $3.74. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Clarion at $3.48, while the most expensive is in Mercer and Oil City at $3.80.
The average national gas price remained steady over the past at $3.53. This is 20 cents more than a month ago and three cents higher than one year ago. Gas demand decreased for the second consecutive week and oil prices dipped as well but oil is still over $80 a barrel and that is expected to be the main cause of continuing high gas prices.
