Gas prices mostly held steady this week both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, stayed even over the past week at $3.44 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole decreased by one cent during that same time to reach $3.51. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Brookville at $3.38, while the most expensive is $3.58 in Mercer.
The average national gas price increased by two cents over the past week to reach $3.30 which is three cents less than last month but over a dollar more than last year. According to AAA, gasoline demand has decreased and gas stocks have risen but the higher price of crude oil is keeping prices at the pump elevated.
