Gas prices remained mostly steady both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole during the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, dropped by a penny to settle at $3.85 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole stayed even over the same period of time also at $3.85. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Brookville at $3.75, while the most expensive is in Mercer at $3.93.
The average national gas price climbed four cents over the past week to reach $3.67. This is 14 cents more than a month ago and the same as one year ago. Although demand for gas increased slightly, the price of oil dropped a bit as tensions in the Middle East continue to make the market nervous.
