Gas prices have been inching down across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week while remaining slightly higher locally.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of yesterday, sits at $3.55 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole decreased by two cents to settle at $3.53. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Sharon at $3.29, while the most expensive is in Oil City at $3.60.
The average national gas price also decreased by two cents over the past week to $3.14. This is a penny more than last month and 12 cents lower than this time last year. Demand for gas dropped slightly but the price of a barrel of crude oil increased.
