Gas prices have inched down both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, dropped by two cents over the past week to reach $3.69 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole dropped by three cents over the same period of time to reach $3.73. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Sharon at $3.59, while the most expensive is $3.83 in Mercer.
The average national gas price fell by three cents over the past week to reach $3.44 which is three cents more per gallon than a month ago but 84 cents less than one year ago.
Demand for gas increased slightly but the cost of oil declined due to market concerns about the global banking system.
