Gas prices have jumped up both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, increased by a dime to reach $3.75 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole rose by nine cents over the same period of time to reach $3.73. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in New Castle at $3.66, while the most expensive is in Mercer at $3.76.
The average national gas price rose by three cents over the past week to hit $3.59. Demand for gas increased slightly last week but is still lower than normal for this time of year. The price of oil dropped slightly but many oil refineries are dealing with extended repair timelines.
