Gas prices have increased both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, rose by eight cents to reach $3.79 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole also rose by eight cents over the same period of time to settle at $3.76. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in New Castle at $3.69, while the most expensive is $3.82 in Mercer.
The average national gas price increased by a dime over the past week to reach $3.60 which is 13 cents more per gallon than a month ago but 51 cents less than one year ago.
Demand for gas continues to increase but the cost of oil dropped slightly as a result of market concerns about the possibility of a recession.
