Gas prices continue to hit new record highs both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, increased by 19 cents over the past week to reach $5.05 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole also rose by 18 cents during that same time to arrive at $5.03. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Bradford at $4.99, while the most expensive is $5.06 in Pittsburgh.
The average national gas price increased by 15 cents over the past week to reach $5.01 which is nearly $2 more than one year ago. According to AAA, high prices at the pump continue to be driven by the over $120 price for a barrel of crude oil along with robust demand.
