Gas prices continue to skyrocket both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole over the past several days.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, increased by 44 cents over the past week to reach $4.15 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole increased by 43 cents during that same time to reach $4.13. This is the highest average price of gas every in Pennsylvania, passing the previous record of $4.07 set in 2008. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Erie at $4.03, while the most expensive is $4.19 in Latrobe.
The average national gas price rose by 45 cents over the past week to reach $4.06 which is the highest since 2008. According to AAA, although the price of crude oil sits at over $115 per barrel, those prices are likely to continue surging in response to Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.
