Gas prices have stayed even locally but continued to increase across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, remains at $3.96 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole jumped by a nickel over the same period of time to reach $3.94. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in New Castle at $3.84, while the most expensive is in Mercer and Oil City at $4.00.
The average national gas price dropped by four cents over the past week to reach $3.84. This is two cents more than a month ago and 13 cents more than one year ago. Although demand for gas increased slightly, the price of oil remained over $90 a barrel as the market remains concerned that energy demand could be lower if future interest rate increases push the U.S. economy into a recession.
