Gas prices inched up both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, rose by two cents over the past week to reach $4.01 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole increased by three cents during that same time to arrive at $3.99. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Brookville at $3.74, while the most expensive is $4.09 in Mercer.
The average national gas price fell by three cents over the past week to settle at $3.76 due to lower oil prices. Although demand for gas rose slightly, it is still lower than last year. The drop in the cost of oil is connected to ongoing market concerns about global demand, especially in China where new COVID lockdowns have been announced.
