Gas prices have continued to increase both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole during the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, increased by three cents to reach $3.76 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole rose by three cents over the same period of time to hit $3.75. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in New Castle at $3.63, while the most expensive is in Meadville at $3.80.
The average national gas price increased by seven cents over the past week to reach $3.53. This is 27 cents more than a month ago and nine cents higher than one year ago. Gas demand saw a slight decrease and oil prices dipped as well but oil is still over $80 a barrel and that is expected to be the main cause of high gas prices.
