Gas prices have reversed course with a small decrease both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole during the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, dropped by three cents to arrive at $3.58 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole decreased by two cents over the same period of time to settle at $3.63. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in New Castle at $3.51, while the most expensive is in Mercer and Warren at $3.70.
The average national gas price dropped by a penny over the past week to reach $3.26. This is 16 cents more than a month ago and but a dime less than one year ago. Although demand remained even and oil prices edged higher, the expected reopening of a large refinery in Indiana in the near future has helped to ease prices at the pump.
