Gas prices have reversed course once again with a small decrease both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole during the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, dropped by a nickel to settle at $3.60 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole decreased by three cents over the same period of time to hit $3.63. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in New Castle at $3.51, while the most expensive is in Warren at $3.70.
The average national gas price increased by four cents over the past week to reach $3.39. This is 21 cents more than a month ago and but eight cents less than one year ago. Gas demand continues to ramp up as oil prices continue to creep closer to $80 a barrel and OPEC plans to extend a reduction in oil production.
