Gas prices have crept up locally but continued to edge down across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole during the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, rose by two cents to $3.49 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole decreased by a penny over the same period of time to settle at $3.39. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in New Castle at $3.11, while the most expensive is in Warren at $3.60.
The average national gas price increased by three cents over the past week to reach $3.10. This is still two cents less than a month ago and 40 cents less than one year ago. Although demand for gas decreased, the price of oil ticked up after a report about a significant decrease in domestic commercial crude stocks.
