Gayle Diane Anthony, 70, passed away early Thursday morning, March 8, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving husband and family.
Diane was born in Butler on October 2, 1947. She was the daughter of the late Richard “Dick” and Alice Hilliard Ekis.
She was a 1965 graduate of Fairview Twp. Karns City High School. In her earlier years she was employed at Bobbi Brooks in Butler. She had also been employed at Butler Canvas and Awnings. Later, Diane and her husband purchased Butler Canvas and Awnings and operated it as Awnings Over Butler for a number of years. Most recently Diane was employed by Shriver Bus Co.
Diane enjoyed crafting with plastic canvas and crocheting, and was a skilled seamstress and an avid bingo player. She most especially enjoyed the company of her husband and family and always looked forward to family times around the fire.
Diane is survived by her husband, Paul L. “Bud” Anthony Sr., whom she married in Bruin on April 13, 1968. Also surviving are three children, Richard P. “Dick” Anthony and his wife, Faith, of Petrolia, Amy B. McClure of East Brady, and Penny D. Reep and her husband, Pat, of Parker; seven grandchildren, Tiffany, Cassandra, Clifford “Jake”, Seth, Hope, Justin, and Chance, as well as a number of great grandchildren; four step children, Kim Scott, Laura Switzer, Jacqueline Solada, and Paul L. Anthony Jr., a number of step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and step great great grandchildren, and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Roberta McCord.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main St., Karns City, from 1 -3 and 6 – 8 p.m. Saturday. A funeral service will be held from the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Edward Clarke, pastor of the Kaylor United Methodist Church, officiating.
