Gayle S. Craig, 72, of Chicora, passed away Thursday morning, July 8, 2021 at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Gayle was born in Fairview Twp. on August 1, 1948. She was the daughter of the late Sven and Isabelle Boyer Overbo.
She was a graduate of Karns City High School. Gayle had been employed by Friedman’s Supermarket in Chicora for more than a half century, where she held various positions including cashier and office manager. Gayle was well liked and highly respected by her co-workers and the store’s many customers. She had most recently been attending the Chicora United Methodist Church and enjoyed yard saleing, shopping, word books, and most especially the company of her grandkids, who affectionately referred to her as “MaMa.”
Surviving are two sons, Michael S. Craig and Bradley S. Craig and his wife, Michelle; two grandchildren, Wyatt P. and Carly L. Craig; her children’s father, Danny L. Craig, all of Chicora; her “little sis”, Lynn Ritzert and her husband, David “Pete” of Emlenton; her father-in-law, Richard “Dick” Craig of Chicora, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dale Overbo and her mother-in-law, Elizabeth “Betty” Craig.
A private service officiated by the Rev. Glenn Kohlhepp, a retired Methodist pastor, will be held at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora. Interment will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Chicora. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
