104 general season elk license holders are getting ready to head out into the woods for the beginning of general elk season on Monday
The areas that permit elk hunting are located in the central part of the state and samples must be collected immediately after harvesting to check for diseases such as chronic wasting disease.
Firearms are permitted in general elk season but 21 of 26 bowhunters were successful during archery elk season in September.
34 hunters will participate in the antlerless elk only last season January 2nd through 9th. All elk hunters are selected through Pennsylvania’s annual elk license lottery.
