Genevieve Mae Sherwin, 79, of Bruin Road, Petrolia, went to be with the Lord late Thursday evening, October 19, 2017 at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital with her loving husband and family by her side.
Genevieve was born in Indiana, PA, on March 11, 1938. She was the daughter of Mervis and Pearl Boarts Crissman. Genevieve was a graduate of Elderton High School, she was a homemaker and of the Protestant faith. She was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed watching her soap operas, and decorating for the holidays.
She is survived by her husband, William Fredrick Sherwin, who was her faithful and loving caretaker for many years. The Sherwins were married at the Lutheran Church in Shay on September 15, 1956. Also surviving are two daughters, Tammy M. Myers, and her husband Shawn, of Rimersburg, Sherry Atkison and her husband, Ronald, of Thorn Run Rd., Chicora; a son, Keith R. Sherwin and his wife, Sandy, of Terwilliger Rd., Parker; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Kelly, Taylor Boots, Matthew Myers, Dylan Atkison, Asti Atkison, Gregory Sherwin, Jonathan Sherwin; two great-granddaughters, Alyia Adams and Chloe Kelly; as well as a number of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sherwin was preceded in death by a son, William F. Sherwin Jr., and two grandchildren, Jason Kelly and Danielle Kelly.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main Street, Karns City from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, and from 1-6 p.m. Sunday. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday from the funeral home with the Rev. Earl F. Fair, retired Presbyterian minister, officiating.
