An upcoming hike will pay tribute to George Washington’s birthday and his historical trek through Butler County.
The annual George Washington Hike will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Jennings Environmental Education Center in Slippery Rock.
Participants will be able to take several different hikes with varying lengths as well as see objects dating from around the colonial period. Refreshments will be provided.
Participants are encouraged to reserve a hike time as early as possible by visiting the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources website. A $3 per person cash donation will be collected at the event.
