Georgeann “Gigi” Frances Flaccavento Kovac, age 73, of Saxonburg, formerly of Prospect, peacefully passed away Saturday evening October 29,2022 in the Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Born May 22,1949 in New York City, New York; she was the daughter of the late George and Ann diBonaventura Flaccavento.
Gigi was a woman of faith. She was a longtime member of both the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Prospect and Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Mt. Washington, Pittsburgh, where she shared her talent in music at both churches as the church organist and choir director.
Gigi taught piano lessons in her residence and was a lifelong caregiver to family and friends. She was always helping others and had a love and willingness to open her home to others. Gigi was an amazing cook, always cooking for more than needed, and she loved to bring family and friends together as she entertained in her home.
In addition to cooking, she also enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, watching crime dramas, and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her children Stephen (Ben Pilcher) Kovac of Saxonburg, David (Tiffany) Kovac of Slippery Rock, and Remmy Kovac of Saxonburg; two granddaughters Taylor and Peyton Kovac; siblings Lisa Flaccavento of Los Angeles, California, Fred (Donna Sylvester) Flaccavento of Baltimore, Maryland, Anthony (Laurel) Flaccavento of Abingdon, Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Michael J. Kovac, whom she married June 20,1970 and who passed away October 9,2017.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 2,2022 from 4pm to 7pm at the Raisley Funeral Home and Cremation Services, pc., 387 Main Street, Prospect.
A committal service with interment will be on Thursday, November 3, 2022, 9:30am, in the Crown Hill Cemetery, Prospect.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, December 3,2022 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Prospect, 143 Church Street, Prospect.
