Geraldine I. “Gerry” Osche, age 98, of Butler, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023, at Quality Life Services – Sugar Creek following a brief illness.
Born June 5, 1925, in Manorville, Pa.., she was a daughter of the late Edward H. and Grace I. Campbell Walker.
Gerry was the former food service director at Butler Catholic School – Saint Paul Building for 40 years. Following her retirement from Butler Catholic, she worked at Rocky Mountain Deli in Butler.
She was a member of All Saints Parish, Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church.
Gerry was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Saint Paul Guild and Christian Mothers, Pennsylvania School Food Service Association, Pittsburgh Regional Food Service Directors, Tanglewood Senior Center, A.A.R.P., and Familyette Bowlers. In addition, she was a Charter and Life Member of East Butler V.F.D. Auxiliary.
Gerry is survived by one daughter, Kathleen Conklin and her husband, William “Doug”, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one sister, Genevieve Krebs and her husband, Richard, of Zanesville, Ohio; four grandchildren, Heidi Reams and her husband, Bob, of Iowa, Josh Conklin and his wife, Melissa, of Chicora, Lori Redecker and her husband, Matt, of Nebraska, and Jon Conklin and his wife, Quinn, of Butler; and ten great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is one daughter-in-law, Karin Osche, of Alliance, Neb.; one brother-in-law, Steve Vargo, of Butler; six sisters-in-law, Helen “Billie” Walker, of Penrose, Colo., Gloria Walker, of Cabot, Patricia “Tish” Bachman, of Inverness, Fla.; Rosemarie Zarnick, of Cabot; Ruth Raybuck, of East Butler, and Dorothy Osche, of Bernville, Pa.; and her close friend Peg Shanor and Peg’s family, of Butler.
Gerry was preceded in death by her husband, Carl H. “Fritz” Osche, who passed away Nov. 26, 2000; one son, James C. Osche, who passed away Aug. 7, 2014; two sisters, Norma “Siddy” Pullano and Barbara “Barb” Vargo; and two brothers, Edward Walker and Chester “Ches” Walker.
Gerry’s family extends thanks to all of her nieces and nephews, especially Barb’s daughters, Julie, Amy, and Lisa.
Friends will be received in the Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 429 Center Ave., Butler, on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2024, at 10 a.m. from All Saints Parish, Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean Street, Butler.
Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
