Glenn Richard “Gig” Shearer, 79, of Butler passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family following a brief illness.
Born August 26, 1944, in Butler, he was the son of the late Merle and Marie Shearer.
He graduated from Butler High School in 1962. Following graduation, he attended night school at Penn Technical Institute of Electronics.
He worked for Pullman Standard, US Tool and Die, Trinity Industries, and returned to US Tool and Die where he was a head supervisor retiring in 2004. He was also a member of the William H. Miller Masonic Blue Lodge in Butler. Glenn loved spending his spare time flying his drones, collecting trains, working on cars with his sons, and traveling with his beloved wife of 53 years. Glenn loved spending time with his grandchildren. He especially loved trips to the beach during the summer months. Glenn also had a great love for his many standard poodles.
Above and beyond all things, Glenn loved and adored his wife, Marianne (Fisher) Shearer, whom he married July 15, 1967. There was never a moment in their marriage where you did not see one without the other. “Twink”, as she was known, was the light of his life. His family finds peace in knowing that they are rejoined in heaven.
