Gordon Ray, 78, of Butler passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. He was born in Butler on August 3, 1946, to the late Wilbur and Charlotte (Pfaff) Ray. Gordon honorably served in the U.S. Army 332nd Engineer/99 Arcom Kittanning. He worked at Armco Steel for 37.5 years and retired from the Electric Repair Shop in 2002. Gordon loved woodworking, gardening, and Pittsburgh sports teams, especially the Pirates and Penguins. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 117 of Butler and a past member of the Butler Moose. The wooden moose on the wall in the Butler Moose, was just some of his woodworking. Gordon was loved by all who knew him and will be sadly missed by his family, friends and fur babies. He was the beloved wife of Patricia (Edwards) Davenport-Ray for 35 years; father of Gary Ray, Rhiannon Davenport-Ray and Maya Davenport-Ray.; also survived by his grandson who he raised since birth, Dalton Davenport; stepfather of David (Leslie) Davenport and Brian (Sondra) Davenport; brother of Daryl (Laura) Ray; brother in law of Robert (Tara) Edwards; grandfather of Isabella Davis, Dawson, Brayden and Ella Davenport, Westyn, Kennedy and Presley Foster; great grandfather of Daxton Davenport; uncle of Jessica (Mike) Zboran, Becky McCrea, Darren Ray and Aaron (Heather) Edwards; and numerous great nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Gordon was also preceded in death by his son, Frank Ray; stepson, Derek Davenport; grandson, Gary Ray and his brother-in-law, Thomas Edwards. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, from 5-7 PM at the SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 NEW CASTLE RD. BUTLER, PA 16001. WWW.SPENCERDGEIBEL.COM.
